Gladiators

Day 35 10 July 02 Wednesday

Man did that rain come down last night! Oh and we did some cool P.T. last night too. We were in the halls against the walls facing in. It went Soldier, space, Soldier, space etc and on the other side it went space, Soldier, space so there was a gap in front of each Soldier. Now comes the fun part. We were given 17 5gal water jugs that were filled. We took these one at a time up to our chests and passed it on to the next guy. We went up and down the hall 9 times back and forth. They were 'wounded Soldiers'. It took about 1/2 an hour and mad did it do a job on arms. After we finished, we had to do raised/incline push-ups. But on to today. Of course breakfast was good but I was excited about bayonett training today. All day we trained on moves to do with a bayonett when you are out of rounds or at a close distance with the enemy. Then we got to do a gladiator type deal. Everyone was equiped with a football helmet, catcher's chest protector, hockey gloves and a padded stick. We got to a sawdust pit and duked it out. It was 2nd platoon vs 1st platoon. They won 7 bouts while my platoon won 23! It was great! Tonight we had P.T. again and we FINALLY ran! We had to go at the pace of the slowest guy but it was still great. After 2.5 miles in about 20 minutes (I know that's very slow but lets continue) we then had a 'cool down' period. We ran around a huge parking lot (about the size of a football field) 7 times which is around 2 more miles. So I finally got to run and I feel great. We did have to stop once for about 10 min because some guys were not running in formation and did some roadside P.T. We did a whole lot of push ups and it felt good when we finished. Well, once again this concludes our time learning about basic training. Tune in next time. Goodnight (I'm in a good mood because things are starting to be fun).
