Too Long!

Wow it's nearly November! Hard to believe I've been home for just about 3 months already...craziness. Anyway, a lot has gone down since I've been back in the States; bought a house, built a fence, painted, bought a new couch and half chair, new plasma TV, new TV and chairs, new coffee table and TV console, new desktop computer for my office, new desk for the office, a new motorcycle AND best of all I got GINGER BACK!!!! It's been really good having her around again. She loves the backyard and since she's been back not once has she not been at the door waiting for me, tail wagging, chomping her jaws and doing her purring grunts....

All in all the house is really coming along, it's nice to have a place to call my own....to be rooted you know? The next project I've got on my list is finishing the garage. Although the house was built in 2003, the garage has yet to be painted, doesn't have a door opener and it has a set of plywood shelving in the front of it that's warped and in need of being torn out and replaced with something more permanent. I have yet to get my car inside it at this point with boxes and an old desk, my bike and other things that are taking up the space so hopefully soon it will be cleared out. I'm still drawing sketches for the wrap-around deck I want to install in the spring....got some great ideas, just a matter of finalizing how I want it to look.

Earlier this month I was up in DC and ran in the 25th Annual Army 10-Miler. The course started at the Pentagon and wraps around all the monuments, the Capital building and back to the Pentagon. I found a good pace right off the bat (no ipods allowed on the course) and kept with it the entire time. The only down side was that I didn't do too much training for it, just 3 miles here and there over the month before it....soooo although I ran the 10 miles in 1:23:22 (an 8:20 minute mile), the next day and a half my legs got really tight and waking up the next morning was HORRIBLE! But in the end, it was a great run and I am most definitely planning on running it again next year! On Halloween this year I'm heading down to Virginia Beach with my buddy Drew and his wife to run in the Blue Moon Wicked 10k. It's a run along the boardwalk and downtown Virginia Beach and ends with food and free Blue Moon beer....I'm also planning on running in the Shamrock Half Marathon in March next year. LOTS OF RUNNING!

When I got back from being in Minnesota in September some guys I knew asked me to play on their fall softball team so every Thursday night for almost 2 months. We did pretty well but in but lost in the playoffs. At the same time I started up with a few other guys a fall flag football team. We've had a few scrimmages and one game and have done pretty well. In our first official game I had 3 interceptions and we won 20-7. Really looking forward to playing more.

As for work, I'm heading to a new company as the Executive Officer...nothing new really, just new people. A few weeks ago I was asked to attend an acquisition conference for equipment and gear for future use in present wars and wars/conflicts to come. Basically since I just got back from overseas and worked primarily with Security Forces (Gun Trucks) they wanted my advice on whether or not certain prototypes would be practical for wartime environments. It was pretty cool to see the things they were working on and from what I gathered they appreciated what input I was able to give them.

All in all things have been going really well. I'm heading to MN for Thanksgiving for the first time in a while...looking forward to seeing a certain someone...and playing in the 6th Annual Turkey Bowl with friends from middle school....welp, off to buy some candy for Halloween since its part of the whole homeowner responsibility. I'll try and keep things up to date better from now on.
