Some big news, a job position came up the week before Thanksgiving to serve as a General's Aide in Warren, MI (about 30min north of Detroit). The job is up for grabs Army wide to Captains and senior Lieutenant's (ones that are near promotion to Captain). As an aide I'd be his go to guy so to speak. I'd keep track of his schedule, make sure he knew what the topic of his next meeting was, having anything he needed ready at all times (sorta like a glorified secretary) and the perks are pretty cool too....whenever he travels, I get to go with. So if he had a conference in San Diego, CA I'd fly out with him for however long it is and hang out...However to make it complicated IF I should get this job I have to move to Michigan by January....which means find an apartment, pack up my things, find a management company to take care of the house and find someone to rent it out. All in a month. Talk about a time crunch eh? I am pretty excited for this chance and the opportunities it would open up for me....IF I get the job. I've put my packet in (evaluation reports, previous jobs i've done etc) and that has since gone up to Big Army and since then, I've heard nothing....I've pestered my Battalion Commander and he's pestered his boss and so on and so forth but so far no one has heard anything....the anticipation is KILLING ME!!! I just want to know yes or no....especially since my Christmas plans are riding on it. If I get the job I don't think I'll have time to go home for the holidays whereas if I don't get the job I'll drive home with Kyle. So it's hard to say I want the job....I mean I really do want the job but I also want to be home for Christmas since it's been a few years since I've been able to be there for it. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
For the time being, I'm an Executive Officer yet again...3rd company i've served as XO so honestly it's getting a little old. I've become stagnate, not entirely caring about my job and I think most of that is because I don't know if it's worth getting into it only to leave the company for this new job. The other part is because I've done this so many times and that I'm not challenged by it. And when I'm not challenged, my job performance doesn't get worse but i most definitely don't excel or meet my potential. So.....getting this new job would most definitely help out, give me a challenge again.
The house is coming along....wow, for those of you who own your own home/condo whatever you'll know what I mean when i say, ITS A SINK HOLE FOR MONEY!!! The house was built in 2003 but the first owners didnt change a thing from how the contractors built it originally....so over the last few months I've made it more appealing....as you all know, I built a wood fence back in October, I started some landscaping on the side of the house in the backyard, built a rack for my firewood, painted, changed out a majority of the light fixtures in the bathrooms and kitchen, installed a new faucet and garbage disposal in the kitchen, new garage door opener and lastly installed an "eco-friendly" energy saving programmable thermostat. Whew....and if I don't head to Michigan, I'm planning on building that deck in the backyard.....the list never ends does it?????
That's it for the news update thus far....catch you all later.
