Bivoak

Day 50 25 July 02 Thursday

As you can tell, I skipped a day, reason being I was out on a bivoak. That is, out in the woods for a night. But let us begin where the day began. We had our 10k march at 0600 which took us to the range we would be shooting the M240B machine gun. The march there wasn't bad except a few gigantic hills and a quick pace got everyone's BDUs soaked. For lunch we got MREs, not very filling but good. We got to use 200 rounds of 7.62mm for the M240B including tracers. It was hot and on top of that, I tore up my right hand on the charging handle. This gun can fire 920 rounds a minute! I couldnt' see when I was shooting because once again, sweat poured all over my glasses. I was, however, able to see well enough to nail, pulverize, destroy, mutilate a truck at 500m! It was awesome to see my shot take it out. The down side, this is how I spent Rachel's bday. I wish I could have been there when (and if) her mother gave her her gift. It would have been great! All that duck tape....

Oh, a fire started at the range from a tracer. There has been so little rain that some grass ignited. We did nothing but let it burn. We marched to another range where we fired on targets while practicing bounding movements to stumps, walls, high/low crawl and finally throwing a grenade. It was monotonous and could have done without it. Oh well, another day gone.
