Fellowship Day

Day 58 03 August 02 Saturday

Today was Operation Fellowship. It took forever for the buses to get to the parking lot to pick us up. They were running 1.5 hours late. When we got there, we experienced the hospitality of the Baptist Community. We were ushered in to their chapel/church where the pastor talked about the gospel. He reminded me of that healing guy you see on late night TV. he was a ball of energy. They fed us chow which consisted of green beans, noodles with strofanoff, a FRESH (emphisis on fresh) biscut and pie with milk. It was a great meal. And the offered seconds! Myself and a few others kept going up for more of those fresh, out of the oven biscuts. They kept baking and dishing and as long as there was butter, we ate. Then I went into another building where they were playing Snow Dogs & Chicken Run. Outside there was football & soccer while inside there was basketball and a bunch of board games. Now, of course there was candy galore for sale along with gatorade, pop, iced tea, ice cream & all sorts more. I skipped buying stuff becaus I wanted to do some letter writing. So as I sat down, I was offered skittles & sweet n sour skittles. I ate those and an ice cream sandwich. Mmmm! When we got back, the pass our Drill Sergeant supposedly were going to give us, the Senior Drill Sergeant took away and made us square away our barracks. This was nothing new so it didn't bother me. The Senior Drill inspected us and on the 2nd try, at 2200, we were allowed to go to bed.
